About me

I’m Z., nice to meet you!

In short, I am a 28-year-old who is constantly trying to escape the responsibilities of being an adult by hiding in fantastical lands and going on exciting adventures and/or world-saving quests.
If you’re looking for inspiration on what to read, occasionally play or watch, or just looking for a fellow book nerd (and nerd in general) to geek out with, you’ve come to the right place!
Why am I here?

I started this blog for two reasons, really. One is that I needed a creative outlet apart from my job in advertising and a place where I could practice my writing. The second simply being that I read too many damn books, have too many feelings about them and no-one to share them with.

My parents, and in time my older sisters, extensive personal libraries always encouraged me to read. Everyone in my family likes a different genre so I had a wide range to choose from. However, it was my father’s collection of high fantasy and science fiction that first awakened the nerd in me. Funnily enough, it was my grandmother who bought me my first book to teach me to read when I was six. It was also her who gifted me with the first Harry Potter book when I was ten. Unbeknownst to her, she changed my life forever. Seventeen years later, adult nonsense like university and work replaced the time I had for reading. So now I’m on a quest to find the time to read with a busy lifestyle, catch up on what I’ve missed and share my journey with everyone who’s interested.

Losing myself in a new book with a captivating story and charming characters is probably my most favourite thing ever. But you can also find me playing video games until the early hours or taking a day off work to have a Star Wars/ The Lord of the Rings/ Marvel movie marathon.

I am a strong believer in reading only what you enjoy and I prefer dragons and magic to real life drama. That’s why I mostly read fantasy, young adult and sci-fi books with an occasional something else thrown in between.

What’s next?

If that sounds up your street and you’re interested in my thoughts about some of the books I’ve read you can check-out my reviews here. I also sometimes unbox bookish goodies and get excited about Random nerd things.

If you’d like some inspiration you can see what I’m currently reading in my Monthly wrap-ups here. Better yet, come join me on my Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Goodreads and tell me all about your favourite things so we can geek out together!
